Ready to Receive

I've owned a sports photography business for ten years, and over the last couple of years had started thinking about selling it so that I could devote my time to my art and my teaching. A year ago I made the decision to sell but by January this year the business still hadn't sold. I started feeling desperate, as I really wanted to sell and just couldn't seem to find the right buyer, even though it was a thriving franchise business. Then I watched the movie "The Secret" and what really hit me was the final part of the process -- "receiving". I realized that I found it really hard to receive anything, including help from my mother. If I couldn't receive help from my own mother, how could I expect to receive anything from the universe? I decided that I needed to make a "Receiving" SoulCollage card to remind myself to open up to that potential. The next morning I woke up and realized that I had already made my Receiving card about a month before. I just didn't know what it was at the time. Born in Durban, South Africa, Catherine practiced as an attorney there for 14 years before immigrating to the U.S. where she started a new career as a photographer. She teaches classes in SoulCollage, photography, creativity, and book arts in North Carolina.
