Villa Maria del MarLocated on the edge of the Monterey Bay,  the lovely Villa Maria del Mar Retreat Center is a non-profit retreat center that welcomes peoples of all faiths. The healing rhythm of the Bay provides a background for walking and relaxation at this serene retreat. The spacious conference room faces the Bay. Along with neighbors and friends, the Sisters of the Holy Names blessed and dedicated an International Peace Pole in their newly-created Peace Garden.

Accommodations

ImageVilla Maria del Mar offers single (some have shared bath) and double bedrooms with private bath as well as a commuter option. Many of their rooms have an ocean view. Room rates include your meals during the Training. Room rates are: Single: $250 (some have shared bath); Shared: $220;  Commuter: $80/$110 (with dinner). There are a limited number of single rooms.

Please reserve early as rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations for Friday and Saturday nights are made through SoulCollage®. Learn more at "How to Register."

On Friday, September 10, arrival is permitted after lunch but check in is only after 3:00 pm. Check out is by 11:00 am. Guests have use of all other facilities until 2:00 pm. There is a $5.00 refundable deposit for a room key. Room rates also include all meals during the Training (dinner on Friday through lunch on Sunday). Your accommodations fee is in addition to the Training tuition of $450.

Dining

Delicious home-cooked meals are served in the beautiful Surfside Dining Room with a picturesque Bay view from any vantage point. A small microwave and refrigerator are available for vegetarian and gluten-free participants who would like to bring special foods and snacks. Although there are no special menus, vegetarians may choose salads, fruits and other suitable options are often provided.


Continuing Education Credits

The SoulCollage® Facilitator Training meets the qualifications for continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and 18 CEUS can be granted.


Work Study Opportunities

SoulCollage® is very interested in making it possible for people to take this Training if they cannot afford it otherwise, and if they will be facilitating SoulCollage® with people who also might not have access to it otherwise. If this applies to you, we usually offer two work-study options per Training for $225, 50% off the current training fee of $450. Applicants on a wait list from previous Trainings are given priority. These positions are currently filled for this Training. Email alia@soulcollage.com to join the wait list.

Responsibilities include: (1) being ready to help at 11:00 am on Friday, with set up and also with break down at 1:00 pm - 2:30 on Sunday and (2) helping with set up of chairs, art supplies, and other tasks at meal breaks and breaks between workshop sessions. These tasks involve some lifting.

If you are accepted as a work-study participant, you will be responsible for the full cost of your accommodations and $225 for the September training. If you are unable to fulfill your work-study agreement at the Training, we require that you repay the balance of the training fee, $225, within one year.


Preparation and Pre-Requisites

No degrees or certifications are necessary to take this training, but Seena Frost requires that participants prepare by reading the book, listening to her two audio talks about SoulCollage® and Facilitating SoulCollage® in Groups and beginning to make SoulCollage® cards for their own decks in each suit, so that they can get experience with their own card-making before working with others learning to make cards. It is not a pre-requisite But it will be helpful at some point to listen to each of the CDs in Seena’s series, Your SoulCollage® Cards.

Persons who complete the SoulCollage® Training will receive a certificate of completion and may use the SoulCollage® trademark in doing individual or group work according to the Principles of SoulCollage®. Thus, SoulCollage® trains, rather than "certifies", facilitators.


Schedule and What to Bring

ImageThe workshop begins with registration from 1:00-2:00 pm on Friday (the Training begins at 2:00) and ends about 1:00 pm on Sunday. Mornings begin with breakfast at 8:30 am. There are sessions both evenings until about 9:00 or 9:30 pm.

In order to receive a completion certificate, all sessions must be attended, so please make your travel plans to permit your attendance at all sessions.

Be sure to bring all your SoulCollage® cards. You do not need to bring images as those will be provided. If you are using 5 x 8 inch cards there will be blank cards provided. If your cards are another size, bring some blanks. Glue and scissors will be provided, but you can bring your own if you have special ones you like. (Don’t take scissors in your carry-on!)

Bring layers of clothes as the weather on the California coast can vary from quite warm to quite cool. Rain gear and an umbrella are a good idea. Socks or slippers might be nice. You might like to have a refillable water bottle, and a flashlight is useful for guiding you around the grounds at night. Please do not wear perfume, essential oils or other scents as a courtesy to people who have environmental sensitivities.
