Biography

I have been a social worker/therapist/counselor for over 25 years and have sought answers along with my clients to questions of happiness, relationships and forgiveness. I was raised in the mountains of South America and have been guided to create sacred space for groups of seekers. I am a trainer in personal wholeness, a marriage and family therapist, and have conducted workshops, seminars and retreats for a variety of institutions.

Description of SoulCollage® work

I believe that we are all unique, unrepeatable miracles of God and have embarked on the turbulent waters of this life for the purpose of refining our understandings of love and personal growth.  As a SoulCollage® facilitator, I will support you in the path of discovery of your greatest purpose and deepest strengths.

Personal work with own SoulCollage® cards

I have been a part of trainings with SoulCollage® facilitators such as Audrey Chowdhury, Mariabruna Sirabella and Kathleen Grittner.  I have conducted several one day retreats and host a weekly SoulCollage® salon.  I treasure my cards and find them to be a regular inspiration and comfort to me.

SoulCollage(R) Workshop

SoulCollage(R) Workshop

SoulCollage(R) is a process which begins as simple, creative fun, but which may suddenly awaken and surprise you! Learn how to access your intuition and create an incredible deck of cards with deep personal meaning that may help you to answer life's questions.

Following the simple SoulCollage(R) directions, your hands move fragments of cut-out pictures around, fitting them together in a surprising new way and gluing them down on a card. Cards containing the images you select, or the images that select you, come straight through your Soul, bypassing your mind.

You can do this work individually, but it is wonderful to have other people with whom to share this process. The cards are fun to take to a friend's house, to work with in therapy or support groups, or to keep on your coffee table.

Biography

I am a licensed Phyical Therapist with 25 years of experience in this field, working mostly in an outpatient orthopedic setting, but I’ve felt drawn to art and design as far back as I can remember. I was raised in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where my mother and father were both music teachers in the public school system. I grew up playing piano and oboe, and still enjoy music of all types/genres. As a child I delighted in the music and art of Walt Disney (Mary Poppins, Bambi, Sleeping Beauty), which helped instill in me a love of all things fantastic and magical. Much of my summers during my High School years were spent emmersed in painting imaginary landscapes with watercolor.
My original major at the University of Wisconsin in Madison was in Textile Design, but after working a summer job in a Physical Therapy department, I changed majors to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. I graduated from the UW Madison in 1985.
I worked briefly in Milwaukee at St Mary’s Hospital, then moved back to Madison where I’ve worked for Meriter Hospital since 1989. As part of my professional development as a therapist, I explored the movement arts of Yoga, T’ai Chi and especially Aikido. I’ve long been passionate about the Japanese martial art of Aikido, which translates roughly to “Harmony Way,” in English. The idea of protecting your attacker and looking for mutual ground intrigued and resonated with me. I credit my greater than 13 years of practice in this art (acheiving the rank of Black Belt in the process) with exponential growth in my self-esteem and confidence.
Through-out this time I’ve also been a wife, mother, lover of story-telling, and champion of the arts, nature and the outdoors, meditation and personal growth.
I first stumbled onto (more like beached myself and kissed the sand of) SoulCollage® the Summer of 2013, following the death of my partner/husband suddenly of a heart attack that Spring. Among the other forms of support I received in that time of transition, I found SoulCollage® to be a great comfort. It was all I wanted to do for many weeks. Words weren’t enough then, although in fact, communicating through words has often been difficult for me. The limitless, creative process of SoulCollage® helped me to recover my “voice” and regain community.
SoulCollage® fits with all my core beliefs and interests, including my love of imagery. It is an integration of left brain/right brain intelligence, promoting personal empowerment, physical manifestation, and creativity, connecting oneself to their highest, “best” self.
It has connected my natural inclination toward the visual arts with my belief in the value of seeing things in perspective, context, with openess, spaciousness and love. It helps me keep close to my heart all the things I treasure/aspire to: transformation, creativity, self-empowerment, hope, kindness, authenticity, and community.

Description of SoulCollage® work

I attended my first SoulCollage® workshop in August 2013, taught/facilitated by Beverly Gordon. Since then, I’ve attended many card-making workshops as well as gatherings for the purpose of card readings. I was certified as a SoulCollage® Facilitator May 4, 2014 at a training session taught by Audrey Chowdhury.

My “mission” is to share this process that has been so helpful to me with others.

In my work as a Physical Therapist I’ve worked with many different populations, people from widely varied socioeconomic and educational levels, ethnicities, religious/belief systems and of all manner of pyschological/emotional diagnoses and backgrounds. This has allowed me to hone skills to encourage clients to bring their own unique gifts and talents to bear toward healing. In much the same way, I am now delighted and honored to combine my love of imagery in a way to help others find empowerment, through the use of SoulCollage®.
