SoulCollage® and the Planetary Paradigm Shift
At the conclusion of the 2008 Facilitators' Conference in November I talked about the planetary paradigm shift that so many believe is occurring now. Many have written about it, many are praying for it, and, remarkably, many are becoming activists working to manifest the inclusive community it describes. My little talk came before Barak Obama began as the new U.S. President; it came before millions gathered in Washington D.C. and wept and sang and waited and froze, just to say they were there when something truly big began.
But now, as Swami Beyondanada says, and I quote, “The shift has hit the fan!” Obama and his team are off and running. He is reaching a hand out to what was once called the "axis of evil"; he is including the planet’s needs along with human needs; he is exhibiting a balance of animus and anima, of mind and heart, which can be a model for us all. Of course the race has just begun and the Shadow is lurking already close at hand. Consciousness from all of us is required.
I like to think that the SoulCollage® community can be part of the manifestation of this “dream” of inclusiveness; we can help nurture heart energy, imagination, and creativity along with mind energy, strong action and careful analysis. In 2009, I hope that Facilitators will be reaching out in their workshops to include more men, people of color, economically poor, young people, as well as the hungry of spirit who are everywhere.
One way you might prepare to do this would be to consult your SoulCollage® cards for the three strange angels who are knocking on your heart door. At the Conference I quoted from a poem by D.H. Lawrence called "Song of a Man Who has Come Through." It ends with these words: What is the knocking?/ What is the knocking at the door in the night?/ It is someone come to do us harm./ No! No! It is the three strange angels./ Admit them. Admit them.
Then I introduced the three archetypes that had knocked on my heart’s door, and what they had said to me. (In case you want to see who they were and read what they said, there is a link at the end of this column.) What I am suggesting here is that you do this exercise for yourself by either drawing or choosing from your Council cards. Ask them how you can be part of the shifting paradigm. Ask them what they want from you, what your unique contribution might be. Ask them what first step to choose. Ask them about the Shadow that is lurking. Ask your own questions, of course, and discover who knocks on your doors and what they offer, demand, suggest, promise, and warn. A perfect song to end such work is “Calling All Angels” sung by Jane Siberry with k.d. Lang on the album "When I was a Boy" (2nd song).
