Description of SoulCollage® work

I have been facilitating SoulCollage® groups in the Charlotte area since 2004 and never fail to be amazed at the discoveries that participants make when they allow themselves to follow their intuition and let the images speak to them.  SoulCollage® is an easy, non-threatening process which allows you to get to know yourself better and create art at the same time.  I love creating a sacred space around the class and do this by incorporating poetry and music into my workshops.  In this fast paced world SoulCollage® is a perfect way to slow down and spend time building a relationship with yourself and your friends.  I find that SoulCollage® is also a form of visual meditation.

Trainer Statement

Catherine trained as a SoulCollage® Facilitator Trainer with Seena Frost in January, 2012.  Catherine hosts her Trainings in her studio in Charlotte, NC with a labyrinth right outside the studio. Inside the studio you will find mixed media projects, photography, art journaling and more to inspire your creative life.

Personal work with own SoulCollage® cards

I turn to my SoulCollage® cards when I am confused, frustrated or anxious.  Making a card can often uncover what is really worrying me, and can bring me a sense of direction and peace.  Having collected images since I was a child and believing in the healing power of the image, SoulCollage® is a way to combine the things I love in a meaningful way.  It is also a way to re-discover the creative artist within.

  • Jung noted that by taking a thing apart, getting to know the parts intimately, and then letting the parts come back together, transformation occurs. In like manner, our many pieces of soul can be consciously and imaginatively collaged into a new and more vital oneness. This is what we are about in the process called SoulCollage® which was created by Seena Frost. We select (or are selected by) images that are numinous to us personally and collage them onto a card. Later we can work mindfully with the images just as we would a dream. This is a powerful way of letting what is hidden within our depths bubble up from the personal or collective unconscious. The images on our cards can help us recognize and retain vital parts of ourselves. They can challenge, surprise, and even horrify, but now we can understand and integrate them into our whole psyche. This will be an experiential workshop where you will make your own cards and learn how to give them a voice. All supplies necessary to make cards will be supplied. You can find out more about the SoulCollage® process at www.soulcollage.com

The workshop presenters will be Catherine Anderson and Elize Rowan.

  • This four night, five day residential retreat is a time to pause and clarify the path you are on. Both the labyrinth and the SoulCollage® process can be used as tools of transformation to help us navigate the confusion of life and its many challenges. They both give us ways to access our own inner resources and intuition. Using one of them alone will make a difference in your life, but used together they amplify and deepen each other because they are both languages of the soul. They enable us to access our inner world and deepen our understanding of ourselves as we journey on this path called life. Both processes allow us to create a sense of order out of the information that bombards us from all directions, and both encourage us to develop a higher level of awareness which enables us to thrive in the complex and ever-changing world in which we live.
