Biography

I grew up in Cincinnati, OH, loving horses, the woods, a dramatic sky, and good stories. I dabbled in painting and writing poetry. Since my teens I have always felt a strong sense of my soul's yearning to connect with the Universe and the deeper reality of life. Early on I felt called to be a teacher and went to college at a small liberal arts college in Michigan with that purpose. I taught English and French in middle school and high school for almost 8 years, and college English for several years after that. We moved to West Virginia to finally answer our vision of country living and have lived her for over 30 years. During that time I got very interested in the power of Tarot and other aspects of archetypal/spiritual exploration in a Circle of like souls. I also pursued my interest in creative writing and earned an MFA in poetry at West Virginia University. This led to a keen interest in power of poetry therapy, which eventually brought me to a mid-life career change--I became a psychotherapist. This proved to be an excellent decision and I found deep satisfaction in working as a clinical therapist in the WVUMedicine's mental health facility for almost 10 years. I recently retired from that full-time position in order to create more time for my deepening interest in the expressive arts--both my personal work and working with others. Soul Collage® will be a centerpiece of that work.

Description of SoulCollage® work

I completed my SC facilitator training with Kat Kirby in October 2017, after reading and listening to all the online and printed materials I could get my hands on. I have made dozens of cards which I use regularly for inspiration and as a way to creatively explore my inner wisdom about matters I am dealing with. I am now in the process of developing SC presentations and workshops to offer in my community, and also plan to offer individual sessions to those who are interested in using this powerful modality.

Personal work with own SoulCollage® cards

I completed my SC facilitator training with Kat Kirby in October 2017, after reading and listening to all the online and printed materials I could get my hands on. I have made dozens of cards and use them regularly for inspiration and as a way to creatively explore my inner wisdom about matters I am dealing with. As a long-time user of a variety of Tarot-type decks, I am very familiar with using archetypal images to explore important questions, and I find that using my own cards to be even more powerful, as I am working with images that my own deep self has chosen specifically because it resonates with them.
