The SoulCollage® Facilitator Training is for anyone who wants to facilitate SoulCollage® for self-discovery in groups and with individuals.

About Your Trainers

Our Lead Trainer is Mariabruna Sirabella, M.S., LMFT, who has studied closely with Seena Frost, M.Div. for over two decades and has been training SoulCollage® Facilitator in the USA and Europe since 2007. Mariabruna will be assisted by Sue Gelber and other SoulCollage® Trainers and additional staff. The Founder of SoulCollage®, Seena Frost, M.Div., is scheduled to join the Training on Sunday to answer questions, sign books, pose for pictures with new Facilitators, and participate in the closing activities.

What the SoulCollage® Facilitator Training Covers

  • How to facilitate SoulCollage® card-making, including ways to support self-esteem and avoid competition and self-criticism.
  • How to implement a therapeutic structure which both protects and encourages self-discovery, without the Facilitator doing therapy.
  • Ways to adapt the process to different individual issues and different populations.
  • Demonstration of ceremonial work with SoulCollage® cards.
  • Discussion about how to use the internet to support and encourage SoulCollage® community, including the SoulCollage® Facilitators' online group, the Facilitator's "Neter Letter" newsletter, SoulCollage® Exhibitions, and referral listings on the website for trained SoulCollage® Facilitators.
  • Help in envisioning a plan for facilitating SoulCollage® that fits your own passions, intentions, and competencies.
  • Ways to prevent and deal with ethical pitfalls and challenges that might arise when one is working with individuals and groups using the powerful spiritual and personal method of SoulCollage®.

You will make cards, share cards, and use your own processes as teaching examples for the group in learning how to facilitate SoulCollage® work, because the focus in the Training is training rather than card-making per se as in a workshop.

  • Learn how to do "readings" that use our own intuition to deepen self-knowledge.
  • Learn creative applications and how to adapt the process to different populations.
  • Work towards constructing a plan that fits your intended use of the technique.

Preparation and Pre-Requisites

No degrees or certifications are necessary to take this training, but it is required that participants prepare by:

1. Reading Seena Frost's book, SoulCollage® Evolving.

2. Listening to her two CDs, "Introduction to SoulCollage®" and "Facilitating SoulCollage® in Groups." Both are also available for purchase and download through iTunes store.

3. Making SoulCollage® cards for their own decks in each suit to gain experience with personal card making before facilitating this process for others. It is also highly recommended that you begin doing readings with your cards (See pp. 103-118 in SoulCollage® Evolving), which will deeply enrich your Training experience.

4. Experience SoulCollage®!  Mariabruna Sirabella, SoulCollage® Trainer, has said that making cards without reading them is like preparing a delicious meal and not eating it. We would like you to have enjoyed your meal by

If you can't find a SoulCollage® Introductory workshop near you, you can take a recorded video course which will give you a sense of the deep potential of the SoulCollage® process in community and also give you some valuable basic information. There are two Fundamentals of SoulCollage® courses to choose from online:

This one-weekend SoulCollage® Facilitator Training is required in order to call yourself a SoulCollage® Facilitator and your groups SoulCollage® Groups. If you are sharing SoulCollage® in groups before being Trained, please read Principles of SoulCollage®. The first part will tell you what is included in a SoulCollage® workshop. The last few paragraphs will tell you how you are permitted to advertise your groups before completing the Training. If you want to use SoulCollage® in your work, you will want to prepare for and complete all sessions of the Facilitator Training.

Certificate of Completion

Individuals who complete all sessions of the SoulCollage® Training will receive a certificate of completion and may use the SoulCollage® trademark in doing individual or group work according to the Principles of SoulCollage®. Thus, SoulCollage® trains, rather than "certifies", Facilitators.

As I like to say “It happened accidently on purpose.” I am the administrator assistant for the Spiritual Care Department at St. Mark’s Hospital. Our department runs a program called CPE (Certified Pastoral Education) where Julie Vesely is a chaplain.  Julie overheard my conversation with another co-worker about the SoulCollage® Facilitator Training. Without any previous knowledge, and to the surprise of us both, we learned about each other’s love of the SoulCollage® process of creating and reading cards!  I was planning on attending the March Facilitator Training, and she was planning on attending one in the summer. 

After discovering our mutual interest, Julie changed her plans and we both attended the SoulCollage® Facilitator Training together in March. In addition to the benefits of traveling, sharing a room, and training together, it was a whole lot of fun. We have been bouncing ideas off each other ever since. We are looking into future possibilities of co-facilitating workshops, connecting with other Facilitators, and possibly facilitating the first regional group for Utah.  And, now I have a soul friend to share SoulCollage® card-making and readings. How much fun is that!

Training Tuition

The Training fee of $625 includes workshop sessions at the retreat center and a one-year membership in the SoulCollage® professional organization, the SoulCollage® Facilitators' Circle. Accommodations at the Training are not included in this fee.

There is a discounted fee for early registration until midnight August 15, 2015. Pay only $595. In order to qualify for the discounted early registration fee, full payment for both the tuition and the accommodations must be received by August 15, 2015.

Work-Study Opportunities

The SoulCollage® Trainings in Santa Cruz are very interested in making it possible for people to take this Training if they cannot afford it otherwise, and if they will be facilitating SoulCollage® with people who also might not have access to it otherwise.

If this applies to you, we usually offer one or two work-study positions for new participants at each Training. We also offer work-study positions for a trained Facilitator who wants to re-take the Training. These two positions pay a fee of $300, which is about 50% off the current training fee of $625. Applicants on a wait list from previous Trainings are given priority.
Responsibilities include: (1) being ready to help with set-up at 11:00 am on Thursday, and 2) help with break down and packing up on Sunday, and (3) help with registration, set up of chairs, art supplies, clean-up and other tasks during part of meal breaks and breaks between workshop sessions. These tasks involve some lifting, such as boxes of magazines and/or rearranging tables and chairs.
Work-study participants are responsible for the full cost of accommodations plus $300 for the Training. If you are unable to fulfill the work-study agreement at the Training, we require that you repay the balance of the training fee, $325, within one year.

Villa Maria del Mar Retreat Center

Villa Maria del MarLocated on the edge of the Monterey Bay, this lovely oceanside retreat center welcomes people of all faiths. The healing rhythm of the Bay provides a background for walking and relaxation at this serene location with its Peace Garden and Bay views. The spacious conference room faces the Bay. Training participants rave about the beautiful location and wonderful food, and these Trainings have consistently filled ahead of time.

Accommodations are single and shared rooms, most with private bath, and a commuter option.

Reservations for the Training dates are made directly through SoulCollage®.
No accommodations are available at the retreat center on Sunday night.
Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

ImageRoom rates for the Training include your meals. Room and commuter rates are: Single: $435; Double: $345 (per person); Commuter: $215 (The commuter fee covers meals, except breakfast, and a facility fee.). If you choose not to stay overnight at the center, payment of the commuter fee is required.


Delicious home-cooked meals are served in the beautiful Dining Room with a picturesque Bay view from any vantage point. A small microwave and refrigerator are available for vegetarian and gluten-free participants who would like to bring special foods and snacks. Although there are no special menus, vegetarians may choose salads, fruits and other suitable options which are usually provided.

ImageOn Thursday, arrival is permitted after lunch but check in is not until 4 pm. On Sunday, Guests are asked to leave the premises by 2:00 pm . Guests have use of all other facilities until 2:00 pm. There is a $5.00 refundable deposit for the room key. Room rates also include all meals during the Training (dinner on Thursday through lunch on Sunday). Your accommodations fee is in addition to the Training tuition.


It has been lovely to experience others so committed to a sense of community. I delight in the interweaving of creativity, psychology, spirituality and community. Continuing Education Credits

This course meets the qualifications for 18 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. A certificate of attendance will be provided by SoulCollage Inc. #4889. Any participant who is licensed in another state must check with that state's licensing board to determine if credits granted in this course will be accepted by that board.

The ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board) accepts SoulCollage® Institute and SoulCollage®  Facilitator Training CEUs for continuing education credit for ATR-BCs because these courses are accepted for continuing education credits by the  California Board of Behavior Sciences mental health licensure board.

For those Boards who may not be familiar with SoulCollage® and its therapeutic benefits, we offer the following supplemental information, which was included in SoulCollage® Inc.’s application for CEU provider status which was accepted by the BBS in California. Download PDF.

Schedule and What to Bring

Registration: 1:00-1:45 pm on Thursday.
Training begins at 2:00 pm and ends about 1:00 pm on Sunday.
Mornings begin with breakfast at 8:30 am, and the daily program begins at 9:30 am.
There are some required and some optional sessions evenings until about 9:00-9:30 pm.

In order to receive a completion certificate, all required sessions must be attended, so please make your travel plans to permit your attendance at all sessions.

  1. Be sure to bring all your SoulCollage® cards. You do not need to bring images as those will be provided. If you are using 5 x 8 inch cards there will be blank cards provided. If your cards are another size, bring some blanks. Glue and scissors will be provided, but you can bring your own if you have special ones you like. If you prefer to use an exacto or precision knife and cutting board, please bring those along for your own use. (Remember not to pack scissors or knives in your carry-on luggage!)
  2. Bring layers of clothes as the weather on the California coast can vary from quite warm to quite cool. Rain gear and an umbrella are a good idea. Socks or slippers might be nice. You might like to have a refillable water bottle, ear plugs, a hair dryer, and a flashlight is useful for guiding you around the grounds at night. Bright sun is possible too, so a visor or sun hat might be useful.
  3. Please do not wear perfume, essential oils or other scents as a courtesy to people who have environmental sensitivities.

Training Tuition Payments

There has been quite a demand for these Trainings and registration usually closes early. Participants will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accommodation Payments

Your reservations and housing arrangements are handled by SoulCollage® for the Training dates. Cancellation Policy

1.  Training Tuition

A full refund, less a $75 processing fee, is given at the cancellation of a SoulCollage® Facilitator Training registration if the cancellation is received by midnight Sept 5, 2015. This processing fee applies to all payments, whether a deposit or a payment in full.

You may also apply this credit toward the next scheduled SoulCollage® training that is run by SoulCollage Inc. in Santa Cruz and avoid paying the processing fee if you do attend that Training. If the Training fee is increased in the future, you will pay the difference between the new fee and your payment on account.

No refund or credit is given for cancellations made on or after Sept 6, 2015; or if you fail to attend, or if you leave the event early.

If you must make a last minute cancellation, you also have the option of offering your payment toward a scholarship fund that we are building to support the work. If you have any questions, please email the Training for more information.

2.  Accommodations

A refund of your room payment, less a $30 cancellation fee, will be given for cancellations received by midnight, Sept 5, 2015.

No refund will be given for room cancellations received on Sept 6, 2015 or later, unless we are able to register another participant to fill your room reservation.
